I’m Finbarre Snarey, an arts and culture journalist, creative technologist, and producer based in Beeston, Nottinghamshire. I run Tarot DMs, a text-based interview project.
Tarot DMs is about how creative work really gets made. The focus is on ideas, process, and the parts of creative life that don’t usually make it into press releases.
Each conversation uses tarot cards - they are there to nudge the discussion off script and keep things open, not to predict anything. The cards help people pause and say things they might not otherwise say.
The project is inspired by the way we once learned about artists and thinkers through their letters. Today, those candid conversations tend to happen in direct messages. Tarot DMs treats those messages as worth keeping and worth reading.
