About Tarot DMs
I’m Finbarre Snarey, an arts and culture journalist, creative technologist, and producer based in Beeston, Nottinghamshire. I run Tarot DMs, a messenger app-based interview project and I like to focus on how creative work really gets made.
Tarot DMs explores the parts of real life that do not usually make it into press releases. The conversations I have with guests explore inspiration, process and uncertainty rather than the promotional language of a standard interview.
Each conversation takes place in direct messages and unfolds in an hour. Every guest responds to three tarot prompts, which move the discussion away from stock answers and towards something candid.

Cards featured in Tarot DMs are loaned from the British Tarot Archive.
The project is inspired by the way we once learned about artists and thinkers through written correspondence. Today, those conversations often happen in private messages on our phones. Tarot DMs treats those exchanges as worth keeping and worth reading.
Tarot DMs takes shape as a digital scrapbook, preserving the exchange as it happens.
Reach
Since launching in late 2025, Tarot DMs has reached over 240,000 readers in its first six months, with individual interviews reaching up to 60,000 readers.
